Title:
False Memory Archive: Past Life I (Professor Giuliana Mazzoni was John R. Jewitt), 2013.
Description:
A collaboration with renowned memory expert and psychologist Professor Giuliana Mazzoni (University of Hull). Hopwood commissioned a psychic called Crystal to perform a remote past life regression reading 'as Giuliana Mazzoni' based on a short biog. The text describing the reading was wall displayed, alongside the original invite and two books. The psychic claimed that Mazzoni used to be the 19th Century sailor John R. Jewitt who was famous for being stranded with a native american tribe after being shipwrecked. He was later rescued after several years and on his return he wrote about his adventures in a book called A Narrative of the Adventures and Sufferings, of John R. Jewitt. Hopwood tracked down an early 1816 edition published in New York and displayed it alongside a copy of Mazzoni's book about faulty eyewitness testimony.
